Francisca is a Portuguese multimedia artist based in Lisbon. She explores deviations in perception through the use of color, repetition, layering and the distortion of space. In this curious search for a sense of awe, photography has been the main medium intertwined with video, performance and soundscapes.
Graduated in Biological Engineering, studied Photography at ETIC Lisbon and GrisArt Barcelona and completed the MA in Multimedia Art at Fbaul in Lisbon. Francisca was cofounder of the photographic collective Cuatro15 and participated in festivals, solo and group exhibitions in Spain, Portugal, United States, Sweden and Switzerland. Francisca was a resident artist of the BONFIRE online residency and the Kloster Dornach residency in Switzerland. Exhibited at the galleries Zaratan Arte Contemporânea and Duplex in Lisbon. More recently was part of the TWINGI 25 land art festival, in Switzerland.
Since 2023, Francisca is developing an ongoing project called Walking Mountains. The research has taken her in fieldwork explorations, so far in the mountains of Portugal and Switzerland, following the threads of the invisible that inhabit the landscape and their relation with humans.
